Family Connections Parent Link Centre


We would like to remind parents/caregivers that, when attending the Family Connections Parent Link Centre activities, wet snowy/muddy footwear needs to be removed before entering the play area. We recommend that you bring a clean pair of footwear to change into as socks can be slippery on the floor and if we need to leave the building in a hurry there will not be time to find and put on your other footwear.

Please bring your own "travel mug" with lid for hot drinks and a water bottle for water for you or your child, when attending programs with the Family Connections Parent Link. This mug or water bottle should be non-breakable. The Family Connections Parent Link Centre will continue to have coffee and tea available at most of our programs.

Technology Free Zone!

The goal for the Family Connections Parent Link Centre is to provide a safe and fun environment for our families to play together in. To this end we have a new policy that we will be introducing immediately to all our programs; it is now the Policy of Huntington Hills Community Association that our programs be technology free.

This means that we are asking you to put your cell phones, tablets, etc. away while you are at our programs. Please do not talk, text, play games, etc while you are in the play groups. We understand that there will be times that it is necessary for you to use your device, and we ask that you do so outside of the play space, after ensuring your child is safe by asking someone else to watch them, or by taking them with you. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to talk to one of our staff about them.

Family Evening Fun Pajama’s play
Thursday evenings, September 5, 12, 19 & 26, 6:15-7:15 p.m.

The children can wear their pajamas. The whole family is welcome to join us having fun playing for the first 1/2 an hour and we will end the program watching a short video with popcorn. The registration starts on August 1.

Family Sock Hop
Friday evening, September 20, 6:30-8:00 pm

Come join us for an evening of dancing in your socks as we say goodbye to Summer. Grab your brightest, silliest, funniest socks and join us for a fun evening of dancing in the GYM.

This is a registered event, and registration will run August 26 – September 13. Call 587-392-2271 to register.

This event is for families who have attended programs in the last 6 months. Families must pick up their ticket for the dance before the night of the event.

* Food and drinks will not be served at this event. We will have bottled water available during the dance and a snack for you to take home as you leave.

This event is being put on through partnership with North Central Family Support and the Building Strong Lone Parenting programs.

Me and My Dad (1 year to 5 years old) “Barbeque Fun”
Saturday morning, September 28, 10:30 am-12:00 noon

Dad’s ONLY (and children) activity for children 1-5 years. Come join our Me and My Dad program. Dad’s and children 1 year (able to walk and run) and older will be able to participate in variety of activities while meeting other dads. We will be playing outside so dress for the weather.

Cool Summer Play (in the arena)
August 8 10:30-12:00 pm

Huntington Hills Community arena

Start your engines! Bring your riding toys, bikes and helmets and join us in the Huntington Hills arena for some riding fun. Strollers are welcomed. This program is not able to accommodate large motorized riding toys. Look for other interactive activities and games.

Visit to Mobile Adventure Playground (City of Calgary program)
Tuesday morning, August 13, 10:30 -12:00 noon

Beddington Area, Bergen Park (green space behind Beddington Safeway)

Come join this exciting play opportunity for children of all ages. Dress for the weather. Call 587-393-2272 for more information.

“Adventure playgrounds offer a variety of materials and loose parts such as boards, tires, tape and cardboard that children are free to use to build, demolish, assemble and change their environments as they desire.” Check out other city locations for this free program.

The mobile adventure playground is not a registered program, but a playground that offers a different way to play. Onsite play ambassadors are there to inspire play and keep the playground safe, but not directly supervise the children. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch their children play and see how their imaginations soar in this new adventure space. Further information

Playing with Mud (Outside Play)
Tuesday Aug.20 10-11:30 am

What happens when you mix mud and water? (Happy children). Come join us for this new outdoor adventure where we will have a mud kitchen, planting centre and more. Please bring a 2nd set of clothes and towels for the ride home. We will be playing outside, in the lower baseball diamond.

Meet Me at the Park 2019
Wednesday mornings 10:30-12:00 p.m.

Come join us and visit different parks in Beddington, Thorncliffe, and Sandstone. Bring suntan lotion, hats, water and snacks and something to sit on. Older children are welcome.

Summer Time Stories and Fun (story time for children 1-5 years)
Wednesday August 7, 14, & 21 (2-3 pm)

Come join us with the Judith Umbach Library where children and parents will share songs, rhymes and stories in this interactive circle program. To register call 587-392-2271 starting June 12 for both programs.

Families can only register for one program only, choose either July or August program and plan to attend all 3 sessions.

Summer Drop - in Play and Fun
Thursday mornings 10:00-11:30am

Join us for this summer drop-in program beginning July 11th. This program is best suited for children age 6yrs. and younger. Our room will be available for play as well as the opportunity to experiment with art, science and sensory activities.

Please join us with the whole family for this fun drop in program in the months of July and August. This program is best suited for families with children under the age of 5 years old. Family Evening Fun Program is a great opportunity to come out, meet new friends, play and cool off in the hot summer months.

Mommy 2 Be/ New Mom Group
Friday mornings, 10:00-12:00

Please join our Mommy 2 Be/ New Mom group. All moms welcome! We provide snacks (sometimes homemade) as well as beverages including coffee. This group is FREE and is drop in, therefor if you can’t make it one week or you need to leave early that is all good. We are also a no Mom-Shaming group, respect is huge in this group. we all have our difference of opinions and that’s ok! Every Friday when we meet, we talk about different topics such as -Sleeping -Drs vs Midwives -Mom hacks -Safety tips -Partners -Struggles -Changes -Breastfeeding Monthly we bring in guest speakers including -Lactation Consultant -Maternity RMT -Pelvic floor therapist -Nutritionist -Dental Hygienist -Red Cross CPR.
